POWERS No. 6 CAMERAGRAPH PROJECTOR

Title

POWERS No. 6 CAMERAGRAPH PROJECTOR

Description

Nicholas Power built his first projector, the Peerlesscope, in 1902. It was gas-lit and ran 3000ft. of 35mm film which after projection dropped into a cloth bag for rewinding later. This Cameragraph No. 6 was produced in 1909. It is not apparent whether it was produced for public exhibition purposes or home use. It has spool arms which might suggest it was for home use though being mounted on a baseboard as it is does not exclude it from being used publically. Powers projectors succumbed at the time of the 'talkies'. Although a sound head was produced for the Powers it was awkward in its configuration. Brockliss sold Powers in the UK, and continued to supply spare parts until the 1940's.
