ROTOSCOPE
Title
ROTOSCOPE
Description
Interesting 'toy'. Little can be discovered about this artefact. It seems to work on 'rotoscope' principles providing 3-D images when viewed through the viewer. The images suggest the period in time however they do not look like true 3-D photographs. A 3-D effect can be obtained though to achieve this effect is difficult which suggests that there may be parts missing. There are 17 viewing cards here but many series were produced of views such as these depict. It works by holding the viewer up to a light source and inserting the card and holding it quite close to the eyes.
