Many cinemas had stage spot lights either installed in the auditorium Or in the projection room. Larger cinemas often had stage shows or Cine-variety for which these spotlights were used. Other uses were Were numerous but one was certainly to 'spot' the ice cream sales Girls when they appeared during short intervals in the programme.
